Education

Born and raised in Metro Detroit, Dr. Howard Adelson pursued his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan. He subsequently earned his osteopathic medical degree from Des Moines University-Osteopathic Medical Center, before completing his internship at Botsford General Hospital as well as an ophthalmology residency at Metropolitan Hospital-Michigan State University.

Dr. Adelson's qualifications include a prestigious fellowship in vision correction and cataract surgery at Michigan State University, a distinction held by only a select few eye surgeons. Additionally, he has since furthered his education with general ophthalmology courses at Stanford University.

Refractive Experience

Dr. Adelson has performed thousands of laser eye procedures over his career and is highly experienced in LASIK and PRK surgery. He’s dedicated to sharing his knowledge as a national guest lecturer for ophthalmologists and actively contributes as a resident educator at Michigan State University.

Accomplishments

Dr. Adelson has had the opportunity to share his expertise through a number of platforms, including on Fox News Live, WGVU radio in Grand Rapids, and 95.5 with MOJO in the morning. He’s been named Hour Detroit Magazine’s “Top Doc” seven times.

He belongs to a number of prestigious organizations, such as the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Michigan Ophthalmological Society, American Osteopathic Association, Michigan Osteopathic Association, and the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Dr. Howard embraces adventure wholeheartedly. His favorite activities include boating, water sports, working out, and most importantly, spending time with his 5 children.
